When the wildlife comes up and poses for you.

I was down on the beach, on my stomach & propped up on my elbows reading a book and minding my own business when something went skittering under my chest. I sit up and find myself face to face with the biggest, boldest sand/ghost crab I have ever seen. And he was rather insulted that I had abruptly taken away his shade. He spent some time on the towel, then under my chair, then back up around to my book again as if to say, “Whatcha reading?”

HAHAHA! I love the one where he’s on your book about crab fishing. LOL! Whoops! You don’t want to read that little buddy.
While I love eating crabs, they *totally* creep me out! I would have been jumping away and screeching like a bashee. :)

Honestly, at first I looked around for a little kid cause I was sure it had to be a wind-up toy. I’ve never seen one that would voluntarily get that close and STAY there.

How is that book by they way? I’ve been thinking about reading it.

I’m not too far into it, but I like it so far. This guy is definitely hard core. My brother already read it and went through it in about 2 days - he said it was great and is reading his other book now.

So many fond memories of ghost crabs. We
used to“hunt” them at night during family reunions - go around spotlighting them, drop a bucket over them, and then see who was brave enough to flip the bucket over and catch the crab in it. (We let them all go, of course.)And I’ll be doing that next week with the newest generation of the Atkins family. God I can’t wait to get to the beach! Awesome pics, thanks!
