It was the pilot light on the hot water heater.
But, now I know where the pilot light is, and how to relight it.
(Yeah, you’d think I would have known where it was, but I didn’t.)

Did the repair man give you any curious looks? Maybe like hmm, did she just want me out here for the company? The pilot light was out.

No, I think he was just happy that he didn’t have to install a new hot water heater.
And when I told him, “OK, show me exactly what you did there” I think he realized that I really didn’t know WTF I was doing. :)
