Of course, Bill Pay Help hasn’t been updated yet with any actual information on why they’re shutting down the service.
I’ve been using them for at least 7 years and never once had a problem with a payment going through - I really liked the service, so this kinda sucks. Can’t say I’m really in the mood to be figuring out a new payment system from the credit union. I do wonder if they’ll ever post *why* they’re shutting down the service.

Hm.. never used it. Most of the institutions I owe money have been set to automatically draw money from my checking account via EFT; a couple that require paper checks (rent and one loan) get mailed checks by my bank.

It’s always kind of freaked me out to allow a bunch of different outside companies to auto-debit my account - would much rather “push” it out to them.
The great thing bout Yahoo’s bill pay was that anyone could be a payee - if they couldn’t take an electronic transfer, the service would create a paper check and send it along.
I think I’m more annoyed with having to learn a new service setup. :)

I’m generally willing to trust said [large, established] outside companies in the name of convenience–significantly decreases the chance that I’ll be late paying. :)
SunTrust can send checks, but they can’t send EFTs.

I go one step further and use paytrust.com which receives my bills (paper or electronic) opens them up, scans them and pays them according ot the rules I’ve set up or allows me to pay them if I don’t have a rule.
They also send out either EFTs or paper checks so anyone can be a payee. I’ve used them for about 7 years only payment that didn’t go through was because a payment address changed and I didn’t notice.
Sadly nothing can be done about having to learn a new service :(

Isn’t it amazing how the dinosaurs of the wired world have difficulty accepting new methods when the old go extinct? ;)

I seem to recall looking at them when I first started w/the electronic bill paying - I’ll have to take another look.

LOL, I know. You’d think someone who is fairly well glued to the computer most of the time wouldn’t blink an eye at it all. Guess I’m getting old and set in my ways. :)

I would guess they are not making enough money for the service to continue.

You’re probably right - just sad to see a good service go away.
