You’re stranded on a desert island - which would you rather have: Unlimited books or unlimited music?
(And don’t taunt me with “how do you get the books and music if you’re stranded?” - it’s freakin’ magic, OK?)
Me? Music.

it has to be music, since I never read books,
although I guess if there is nothing else I can have, books would be a better choice,
since if its too sunny, put the paper from the book over your head for shade
after you have read the book, it would make decent toilet paper than a cd
plus origami would be a good way to pass the time , think of all the paper swans you can make from War and Peace
have fun,
hopefully none of us gets stranded without the things we need
have a fun week
take care

books, definitely books.
especially that book on how to build and navigate a raft back to civilization. i can see that one being useful, yep.

I gotta say books. And I have an enormous love of music, but the books would keep me more occupied.

Books, no question. I’d miss music, but the stories and worlds and knowledge contained in books would keep me going long, long after I’d listened to a lot of music.
Riss can’t decide. :D

Can I get my books on tape/cd (audio)? That’s how I do it now.
I think I would need some sort of audio. I choose music, if I can’t get audio books.

Ignoring the loophole of audiobooks…
Books without a second thought. Books can bring me to different places, music only brings me to different parts of my own life. YMMV.
That’s not even counting the utility of haveing all the books that teach you how to rebuild civilization from nothing, which would be very practical.

Books. But there’d have to be a whole hell of a lot of them!

Audio books… hm. Violates the spirit of the question, to be sure, and possibly the letter–it says “music”, not “recorded media.”
That said, I think I’ve listened to a grand total of 2.5 audio books in my life. Not a bad way to “read”, but I find that if I’m concentrating on listening to something (be it song lyrics, audio book words, or someone on the phone) while driving, I tend to miss exits and turns. :) (And that’s about the only time I listen to anything outside the house–I rarely use my iPod except at the gym, and the gym is rare. :)
