Had the most off the wall dream last night - apparently
She’d been there a week before everyone else, so she knew all the ropes already and the rest of us were just generally fumbling around. We had to go canvass a crime scene in the middle of the night, so we’re all scrambling to get our stuff together and get over there. I’m mucking around getting dressed and getting my gun on (Glock) and thinking, “I am so slow, I’m going to miss the ride” and got out into the hall to discover everyone else was having the same middle of the night slow problems, and no one had a full uniform yet, so we’re looking pretty strange cause we’re all having to substitute *something* on the uniforms.
We piled into cars and ended up going up a near vertical mountain, and I remember thinking “Good thing everyone has jeeps for this, I didn’t realize Montana went straight UP!” and got there and discovered it was a market (think Eastern Market) and someone had stolen lobsters… (I think that part came from knowing someone who liberated some lobsters at one point.) There wasn’t a whole lot we could do, so we were milling about and I realize who did it and I said, “Man, it was him. The detective will totally be able to roll him.” Somehow that all gets taken care of and we head back to the barracks and I discover someone has borrowed my flashlight during the course of the evening and didn’t return it and I couldn’t remember who it was, and I didn’t have a spare one.
This is where it gets better, cause
At this point, it’s 3AM, the folks in charge have already told us we’ve got the next day off cause of the middle of the night chaos and to feel free to do whatever we want. I decide to head to the 7-11 next to the barracks and get a coffee & some smokes, and run into Denis Leary, and he realizes I’m at the academy and he’s giving me all this “things you’d wish you’d known ahead of time” information as well as telling me the best way to sneak in and out of the barracks… How he knew all this is beyond me, cause we all know he’s a firefighter. :)
Then I headed back to the barracks, locked up my gun (in my dresser?!) and crashed out.
Strange but entertaining to be sure.
