This was the ship my Dad was station on when we were overseas. Last I had heard she had been decommissioned, and frankly, we all figured they’d turn her into razor blades. Not so! Woot!

Oh yeah, I think I am caught up on sleep now. :) But oh so many bizarre dreams last night - can’t really remember them now, except one where I got privs in LJ’s web support category - that’s the only one that stands out at the moment.
The groceries got here at 7:15 AM… I was the first stop today. The delivery kiddo (I swear, he must be home on college break) took one look at me and decided that I must be sleepwalking, so he literally whispered everything so as not to wake me as we brought the bags in. Cracked me up when he said, “Really, you’ll thank me for this later!” Got the fridge/freezer items put away and back to bed I went.
Snoopy cat - I guess I should thank you for ensuring that I was awake for the arrival of the groceries. Knocking the telephone off the nightstand to the floor did wake me quite nicely. However, you may have noticed that exactly one minute later the alarm clock went off. So, really I had it under control. Also, breaking the lamp on the other nightstand wasn’t exactly necessary just now, but given that you had already broken one, I guess you wanted me to have a new matched set again.
So, at some point,
all of which I reserve the right to break. :) Might as well throw a little year in review in here as well.
All in all, 2003 was a good year.
- I landed a much better job that I am really enjoying.
- The finances are pretty well locked down, despite the pay cut I took for the above mentioned job. Makes it even sweeter.
- The house is sloooowly coming under control.
- Got to go to Charleston with
What’s on tap for 2004:
The first should be something about being less scatterbrained, as evidenced by the fact that I initially posted this yesterday in another LJ I use solely for tracking appointments instead of here…
The House
Oh dear god, the house. Still so much to do, and I haven’t decided where I want to start. Well, we are starting this weekend with doing something about the light in the kitchen, so that’s something. There is still the master bath, carpets, and oven to contend with. Anything that will require someone coming in is going to have to wait until busy season is over at the end of February, but at least by then I’ll have plenty of vacation time for it.
Organization
Or lack thereof. I’ve got to get rid of my slob/packrat tendencies. I’m getting better, but… Some specific things I want to get done in 2004…
—- Take a day and get every cabinet in the kitchen cleaned out and reorganized.
—- Take a day and do the same with my closets
—- Hmm, I guess I should add bathroom cabinets to the list too…
—- Oh, and all the drawers in my bedroom.
—- Keep my kitchen and dining room tables cleared off. THAT will be a challenge.
Procrastination
OK, this is something that I am REALLY good at. So, I need to get worse, I suppose. To that end, I stopped this post halfway through and went and got the dishwasher loaded and running.
Food
I need to get back to eating better. In the past month, I’ve at least had a big salad for lunch about 70% of the time, which is a start. Just need to really cut out the fast food and eat real dinners, too. (Pay no attention to the box of See’s candy in my kitchen…) Also - breakfast. Doesn’t matter if it is just cereal or a bagel, I’ve got to do more than just coffee.
Money
The finances are in decent shape, but given that I’ve got some home improvement projects ahead, continued saving is just a must. More brown bag lunches!
Health & Stuff
More sleep. Exercise. See eating above.
Now, given my tendencies to break resolutions, I think I’ll try and revisit this each month to see where I stand.
Happy and Peaceful New Year to all.
For not slugging the jackass behind me in line at the store at lunch. Hello!! Personal Space! It’s not like a need a 6 foot radius cleared around me, but something more than 10 inches would be good.
Well, the New Year didn’t come in with a bang, but with a nice smooch and then back to the important stuff - finishing the viewing of Raising Arizona. :) I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve seen it and still love it.
We also had an extra guest this New Year’s - 98 pounds of Chocolate Lab named Tucker. Eve is not exactly pleased with the temporary interloper, but seems to have gotten over it. The cats are NOT amused.
And as it is the New Year, resolutions will be coming forth soon. Sure, I’ll probably break them all within three days, but I still do it anyway…
