Made it through the day. Tired as all get out.
Ms. Snarkypants didn’t bother me today, so that was good. I know, she’s probably a very nice person and she seems to be pretty smart, but seems to be lacking something in the interpersonal communications department. I will try harder to get to know her better.
Met Mark’s replacement, sort of. Bob spent the whole day dragging the poor guy all over creation, so we didn’t get too far past “Nice to meet you”. Bob also has this problem where he just doesn’t stop talking, so the poor guy couldn’t get a word in edgewise if he wanted to.
The PC pool allocation still has problems. I am going to have to go in, manually change the end dates of 70 projects, post it, and then change them back. We can’t find the table that the process validates against, so we can’t just download the table, change it and upload it and be done with it. I don’t have the manual with all the tables in it, so I can’t do anything about it.
I left an outline of how the entire closing process works for the new guy, since he’ll be in before I will in the morning. I am also going to STRONGLY encourage him to have someone who understands the corporate/Oracle side of the books explain it to him - it will make his life easier in the long run if he gets that. (No one did it for us, so I just barely understand it, and not to the point where I can explain it)
We all agreed today that the poor guy just doesn’t know what he’s in for.
The upside of all of it is that we’re about 50% of the way to having costs closed, so we should be able to have that knocked out by COB tomorrow.
